The Impact of Immersion

Boott Cotton Mills Museum
Lowell National Historical Park
Lowell, MA

An immersion environment provides what is arguably the most powerful context for telling a story. Deeply immersive experiences engage visitors through all their senses, communicating with sound, smell, vibration and temperature as well as sight. They have proved compelling and effective in our installations for children's exhibits, science-technology centers and historical sites.

What a still photograph can't capture is the thunderous sound of a hundred vibrating looms – earplugs are provided – and the smell of oil and leather.
